In this issue of Earth First! Dave Foreman steps down as editor to make way for John Davis:

During the past three years, I’ve been aided in producing this newspaper on an ever-increasing basis by John Davis… . Before I turn this over to John, let me simply say that editing and publishing The Earth First! Journal has been the high point of my seventeen-year career as a preservationist."
